Volkswagen Aims To Grow 15% In 2024 Says Gupta

Volkswagen India has set ambitious growth targets for 2024. It aims for a 15% increase in new car sales, up from 8% in 2023, as told by the automotive manufacturing company’s Brand Director, Ashish Gupta, in an interview to Business Today TV.

Maruti Will Continue Its Focus On Hatchback Cars Says Maruti's Srivastava

Maruti Suzuki India on Friday reported a 15 per cent year-on-year increase in total wholesales at 1,97,471 units in February. The company had dispatched a total of 1,72,321 units in the same month last year. The total domestic passenger vehicle sales grew 9 per cent at 1,60,271 units as against 147,467 units in the month a year ago. Sales of mini segment cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, declined to 14,782 units as against 21,875 units in February 2023. BTTV's Chetan Bhutani caught up with Maruti's Shashank Srivastava. Bengaluru Man Turns Alto K10 Into Self-Driving Car Using Smartphone

A video of a car going from Ludhiana to Jalandhar in self-driving mode recently went viral on social media. No, it was not a Tesla, but a Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, fitted with a smartphone, which was being used to control the car. The smartphone was controlling the car with the help of open-source software, FlowPilot, developed by a Bengaluru-based techie, Mankaran Singh, along with two of his friends over three years. Explaining the functioning of the software, Mankaran told India Today TV, "The phone is placed in such a way that the back camera faces the front and the front camera faces inside towards the driver to ensure that he is alert. It then sends inputs to the software."

Sony Honda Showcases Afeela Electric Car At CES, Las Vegas, Driven By Remote On Stage

Sony displayed the synergy it is creating between its various media, gaming and entertainment brands at the CES 2024 in Las Vegas. The electronics major displayed Afeela, the first electric car from its joint venture with Honda. The car was driven on the stage using a PlayStation 5 controller. The car uses Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5.3 to power the 3-D graphics and visuals that fill its massive dashboard display. Drivers and passengers will be treated to detailed 3D maps, virtual spaces and augmented reality views of the world around the Afeela. Hatchback & Entry Level Car Segment Will See A Revival Says Maruti's Shashank Srivastava

Maruti Suzuki India reported a 3.39 per cent rise in total sales at 1,64,439 units in November 2023 as compared to 1,59,044 units in the same month last year. Total domestic sales, comprising passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and third-party supplies, were at 1,41,489 units last month as against 1,39,306 units in the year-ago period, up 1.57 per cent, Maruti Suzuki India said in a regulatory filing. Overall domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales stood at 1,34,158 units last month as compared to 1,32,395 units in November 2022, a growth of 1.33 per cent, it added.Sales of entry-level mini cars, comprising the Alto and S-Presso, were lower at 9,959 units as compared to 18,251 units in the same month last year.
