Infosys is among the world’s leading information technology services and business consulting firms. The IT service firm is headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Infosys is primarily known for offering business consulting, IT and outsourcing services and solutions to its domestic and international customers. Infosys started in 1981 when it was founded by Narayana Murthy and six other engineers. In the same year, Infosys got its first client New York-based firm Data Basics Corporation. Infosys shifted its office from Pune to Bangalore in 1983. Infosys launched its Initial Public Offer (IPO) in 1993 as well as received the prestigious ISO 9000 certification in the same year. Infosys opened its office in the United Kingdom in 1995. Infosys Foundation was established in 1996. Infosys launched Infosys Business Consulting Services in 1999. The company was also added to the US stock exchange NASDAQ. Nandan Nilekani was selected as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Infosys while founder Narayana Murthy assumed the role of chairman of the board and chief mentor in 2002. Infosys launched the business process outsourcing solution, Progeon in 2002. Infosys Consulting Inc was launched in 2004. Three years later, Nandan Nilekani stepped down and Kris Gopalakrishnan was appointed as CEO of Infosys. Vishal Sikka became Infosys’ first-ever non-founder CEO in 2014. Infosys would acquire several firms under Vishal Sikka. Infosys acquired US based digital experience solutions provider Skava in 2015. In the same year, Infosys acquired Panaya which is an Israeli firm that offers cloud-based quality management solutions. It also acquired US based information management consulting service provider Noah Consulting in the same year. Infosys acquired US based creative and consumer insights agency WongDoody Holding Company and cloud computing firm Fluido in 2018. Infosys acquired BASE life science in 2022. BASE life science is a technology and consulting firm in the European life sciences industry. As of March 2022, Infosys has its operations spread across 50 countries and has a workforce of over 3 lakhs.

Listing 

Infosys made its initial public offer (IPO) in 1993. Infosys is listed on a number of Indian stock exchanges like BSE, NSE, Calcutta Stock Exchange, Delhi Stock Exchange, Madras Stock Exchange etc. Infosys is a part of multiple indices like Nifty 50, Nifty 500, S&P BSE Sensex etc.
