Benchmark indices settled higher on Wednesday, led by gains in banks, financials, automobile and energy stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 22,124-level. The 30-share BSE pack soared 526 points or 0.73% to end at 72,996. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Reliance Industries, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finance and Titan while losers included UPL, Hero MotoCorp, Wipro, Apollo Hospitals and Dr Reddy's.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance, SBI and Axis Bank were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. NTPC, Tata Steel and ONGC were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Pfizer Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 17.04% on NSE today to settle at Rs 5,000. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 22,873.9 crore.
Angel One Ltd shares soared 9.66% to close at Rs 2,985. The company's m-cap came at Rs 25,076.5 crore. The broking firm has launched its qualified institutional placement (QIP). The floor price for the QIP issue is set at Rs 2,555.01 apiece.
IIFL Finance Ltd shares surged 9.52% to close at Rs 352. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 13,430.5 crore. Olectra Greentech, NLC India, JM Financial and Godawari Power & Ispat were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of Aster DM Healthcare Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 7.25% to close at Rs 405.5 on Wednesday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 20,255.3 crore. Private equity firm Olympus Capital Asia may sell a 9.8% stake in Aster DM Healthcare for around Rs 1,953 crore, news agency Reuters reported. Olympus Capital, which owns about 19% stake in the hospital chain, is planning the sale at Rs 400-437.20 per share.
Central Depository Services (India) Ltd shares slipped 5.58% to end the session at Rs 1,689. The company's m-cap came at Rs 17,650.1 crore today. Brightcom Group, Bajaj Holdings & Investment, Solar Industries India and Polyplex Corporation were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
