Benchmark indices on Thursday continued to rise for the second straight session, led by gains in state-owned banks, metal, pharma and automobile stocks. Headline index NSE Nifty closed at 22,327-level. The 30-share BSE pack soared 655 points or 0.90% to end at 73,651. Top gainers on the Nifty50 platform were Grasim Industries, Bajaj Finserv, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Finance and Eicher Motors while losers included Shriram Finance, Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra and Reliance Industries.
Stocks such as HDFC Bank, Reliance, Bajaj Finance, ICICI Bank and Infosys were most active on NSE today, in terms of value. Tata Steel, ITC and PowerGrid were the other buzzing stocks on the platform, in terms of volume.
In the NSE 500 index, shares of Aegis Logistics Ltd emerged as the top gainer. The stock zoomed 13.18% on NSE today to settle at Rs 446.65. At this price, the company commanded a market capitalisation (m-cap) of Rs 15,677.4 crore.
VIP Industries Ltd shares soared 12.89% to close at Rs 525.5. The company's m-cap came at Rs 7,459.6 crore. Brokerage Prabhudas Lilladher (PL) has upgraded its rating on the stock to 'Buy' from 'Hold'. It has also revised its target price to Rs 603 from Rs 589 previously.
Latent View Analytics Ltd shares surged 9.88% to close at Rs 507.75. The company's m-cap stood at Rs 10,454.8 crore. Century Textiles & Industries, Suven Pharmaceuticals, Bank of Maharashtra and Indian Overseas Bank were some of the other gainers on NSE 500.
Shares of JM Financial Ltd fell sharply today. The stock dived 4.96% to close at Rs 74.7 on Thursday. At this price, the company's market cap stood at Rs 7,138.3 crore.
Torrent Power Ltd shares slipped 4.37% to end the session at Rs 1,357.95. The company's m-cap came at Rs 65,265.4 crore today. Safari Industries, NCC, IIFL Finance and IDFC First Bank were among some other laggards on NSE 500.
